An AI-assisted advertising banner: concept, editable layout and checks

Build a banner around one message: brief, visual-concept prompt, separate text layers and a readability check before placement.

Define the message before generating an image

To create a banner with AI, separate three tasks: devise the composition, prepare the visual and assemble the final layout with exact text. An attractive image is not yet advertising material. Readers need to understand the offer, its conditions and the action expected of them.

We will examine a fictional clothing repair class: 90 minutes, materials included, priced at 900 rubles. The date and address are not agreed, so the practice banner invites requests for details. This is a layout example rather than active advertising. Platform requirements, advertising disclosures and placement conditions need separate checks before a real launch.

A short brief that preserves meaning

Take file dimensions and format from the placement’s current requirements. Do not choose from memory: cropping and interface-occupied areas may differ. Make one main layout and check meaning first, then adapt other sizes. Simply stretching it does not replace recomposing it.

A concept prompt and assembly instructions

For composition: “Suggest three banner compositions for a practice class on hand-repairing clothing. The audience is beginners. Use a calm tone, one main object and a free area for the headline and conditions. Visual: a fabric practice sample, needle and thread; no logos, lettering, price tags or other people’s faces. For each composition, describe object placement, text space and a possible readability issue. Do not invent service properties.” This assignment can be used even without image generation, as a brief for a photographer or designer.

For copy: “Using the confirmed facts, write a headline, conditions line and one action label. Facts: a 90-minute class, two hand stitches on a sample, materials included, 900 rubles. The date is unknown. Do not use ‘last chance’, ‘best’, ‘guaranteed’ or a discount.” Keep the text separate: important numbers and letters must remain available for checking and editing.

Keep the headline, conditions and action in separate editor layers. Adobe Express, for example, documents adding and editing text; that supports this assembly method but does not promise every generated banner already consists of layers. If you have only a flat image, rebuild the lettering or use another source file.

A label resembling a button in an image is not a separate working button. The placement determines the actual destination. After uploading, check where tapping the banner leads and whether the destination matches its promise.

Check the image and contrast

Enlarge the generated visual: fingers, the needle, thread direction and object construction may look implausible. If the image should demonstrate a particular product, compare it with the real sample. In our practice banner, the visual illustrates the topic rather than proving the future class’s quality.

For web text, WCAG 2.1 describes minimum contrast of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text; the rule also covers text rendered as an image. This is a useful measurable reference, but checking one ratio is not a complete accessibility assessment. A photograph’s background varies: measure contrast in the lightest and darkest areas beneath the text or add an even backing.

Check the banner at its actual size on a phone. If conditions require zooming to read, they are too small or numerous. Remove secondary information rather than hide what matters. Color should not be the only way to distinguish options.

Adaptation and a checklist before placement

  1. Compare the copy with the service specification: price, duration, included items, limitations and currency.
  2. Check typos in the final export, especially Cyrillic lettering and numbers. The source text and image may differ.
  3. Open every size separately: the object, headline and action must not be cropped.
  4. Check the particular platform’s requirements for format, file size, content and advertising presentation.
  5. After uploading, check the preview and destination; record which version was actually placed.

If the banner forms part of a page, important information should also be available outside the image. Choose alternative text according to the image’s function in that location rather than filling it with keywords. A real campaign also requires checking applicable advertising content and placement requirements; the practice layout itself is not a legal opinion.

Compare variants without inventing a winner

First test understanding: show someone the layout and ask what is offered and where tapping it will take them. This reveals ambiguity before buying impressions. Do not explain the price and action beforehand, or you will be testing memory of your explanation.

In a real variant comparison, keep the audience, offer and delivery as comparable as the platform allows. Change one meaningful element and record the period, impressions, clicks and chosen target action. A small difference without sufficient data warrants more observation rather than declaring AI increased conversion. If statistics are unavailable, limit conclusions to readability and correctness.

Frequently asked questions

Why avoid generating a banner together with its lettering?

That makes spelling checks, condition changes and size adaptations harder. Separate text layers keep these actions manageable. If the generator produced lettering anyway, check every inscription and rebuild when necessary.

Can I use this layout without a designer?

You can assemble the practice composition in a familiar editor. Real advertising readiness depends on offer accuracy, readability, platform requirements and a checked destination, rather than the creator’s job title.
