An AI-assisted résumé: present real experience without invented achievements

Match your experience to a vacancy, obtain precise wording and check every claim. A résumé example, prompt and evidence table.

Ask AI to express your experience rather than invent it

AI can help write a résumé when you provide facts about your work and a particular vacancy’s requirements. Its job is to remove excess, clarify wording and show relevant experience. Dates, titles, skills, team sizes and results do not become true because the text sounds professional.

Below is a fictional example of a learning-center administrator moving into project coordination. We will prepare an experience section and short cover message. This is a practice edit, rather than a guaranteed interview or the result of testing a particular screening system. Personal contact details and client information are unnecessary for the exercise.

Take inventory before generating

The fictional candidate’s source facts
What is knownSupporting evidenceHow to use it
Managed the schedules of 4 learning groupsAn archive of anonymized schedulesShows coordination of recurring work
Collected changes from 6 instructorsJob responsibilities and their own accountClarify: coordinated, but did not manage people
Maintained a request and status spreadsheetAn anonymized example of its structureName the tool and specific action
Prepared a guide for new administratorsThe guide itself without restricted dataShows process documentation
It seems errors decreasedNo comparable before-and-after recordDo not turn it into “Reduced errors by 40%”

Record responsibility boundaries: what you did yourself, with colleagues and what the manager owned. Without a numerical result, describe a completed artifact or working process. “Prepared a class-rescheduling guide” is more precise than “Significantly improved efficiency”, without making the experience less valuable.

Match experience to the vacancy

Suppose the practice vacancy requires task tracking, deadline coordination, spreadsheets and clear team statuses. Schedules and class changes correspond to deadline coordination; the request spreadsheet corresponds to status tracking. Budget management is absent from the source facts. It cannot be added merely because the vacancy includes it.

Divide requirements into three groups: already done; done something similar and can explain the difference; not yet done. Phrase the second carefully and leave the third as a learning plan. Do not ask the model to “Perfectly fit the résumé”: that encourages erasing the boundary between experience and wanting a job.

A complete model assignment

“Help adapt my experience section to a project coordinator vacancy. Facts and requirements follow. Use facts only; add no titles, dates, percentages, certificates or software proficiency levels. If a fact does not support a requirement, state that separately. Facts: managed schedules for four learning groups, collected changes from six instructors, updated a request and status spreadsheet, prepared a guide for new administrators; no direct reports; no measurements of time savings. Requirements: task tracking, deadline coordination, spreadsheets and status messages. Give four experience bullets using ‘Action — object — specifics’, a two-sentence introduction and a ‘Wording — source fact’ table. Avoid ‘Works well under pressure’ and ‘Team player’ clichés without examples.”

Assess the correspondence table first, then the text. If the model produces an attractive but unsupported result, correct it and clarify the prohibition. There is no need to send the entire work archive: anonymized facts are enough for wording. Use internal company documents only within authorized access.

Practice result: four experience bullets

  1. Managed schedules for four learning groups: collected changes, updated agreed dates and communicated rescheduling.
  2. Coordinated class changes with six instructors; recorded confirmed times in a shared spreadsheet.
  3. Maintained a request spreadsheet: updated statuses and marked questions still awaiting answers.
  4. Prepared a class-rescheduling guide for new administrators, covering the action sequence and people responsible.

Short introduction: “Learning-center administrator experienced in maintaining schedules and coordinating changes. I want to apply this experience to project coordination: I can maintain clear statuses and communicate agreements to participants.” This is an honest move between roles. It cannot become “Experienced project manager with a team of six”: that fact is absent.

Sample cover message: “Your vacancy emphasizes deadline coordination and task tracking. At the learning center, I maintained four groups’ schedules, collected instructors’ changes and kept a request spreadsheet. I would welcome a discussion of how this experience could help your team.” This connects to the employer’s work without retelling the entire résumé.

Europass recommends highlighting facts relevant to the chosen work and using clear language. This is an editorial principle rather than a requirement to copy one template. File format and mandatory fields depend on the submission method: check the employer’s instructions. After exporting, ensure text is selectable, section order remains and contacts are not lost.

What if experience is limited or there are no figures?

Use learning and personal projects, but label their status. For example: “Practice project: prepared an event plan, expense table and risk list”. This supports a discussion if you can show the result and explain decisions. It is not commercial experience and should not appear to be employment at a fictional company.

Keep the original fact list separate from adapted résumés. Change order and emphasis for each vacancy, rather than your biography. If employer replies show the experience is unclear, refine examples; lack of a response alone does not prove an algorithm rejected the résumé. Without feedback, the cause cannot be treated as established.

Frequently asked questions

Must I express results in percentages?

Only when source data and a clear calculation method exist. Otherwise, describe the work performed, responsibility scope and materials created.

Can AI guarantee passing an ATS?

No. This article did not test a particular screening system. Follow the employer’s format requirements, use clear experience labels and check file readability.
